WR TaRon Francis Could Become Weapon in Mountaineer Offense | WVU Football All 105

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.

Making the decision to transfer from LSU in the SEC to WVU in the Big 12 in early January, TaRon Francis (6-foot-1 and 207 pounds) is now hoping the change can trigger more of an opportunity to be part of a Power Four offense.

He did not record any statistics in his limited time as a true freshman in 2025 – he appeared in fives games and was mostly involved on special teams, but was a four-star prospect out of high school.

The New Orleans native also received offers from BYU, Louisville, Utah, Wake Forest and Washington State. He was considered a consensus four-star out of high school.

Francis’ bigger size would make him a unique target for the WVU offense based on the current wide receiver transfer commits and who was brought in as part of the 2026 recruiting class.

Last Year: Francis saw action against Southeastern Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma and in the Texas Bowl vs. Houston.

Post-Camp Outlook: Francis’ pedigree and athleticism impressed coaches during the spring.

Projected Role: The open wide receiver room leaves a door open for Francis to contribute in 2026. 

Accolades, Highlights: Francis was a two-time 5A All-State First-Team honors as a junior and senior, finishing with 76 catches 1,383 yards 14 touchdowns, most of which came from WVU 2026 early signee John Johnson. He helped Edna Karr to an undefeated 14-0 season, the District 9-5A title and the Louisiana Division I title in 2024. Francis was then a consensus 4-star prospect who was ranked No. 9 overall in Louisiana and No. 28 nationally at his position in the On3 composite.
