Marshall’s scheduled football game this fall at Appalachian State received a date change today to accommodate television, according to an email from MU.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 will now be played on Thursday, Sept. 23 “for national television” with kickoff and specific broadcast information not yet released.
The Thundering Herd and App State have a long history with 23 all-time meetings between the two programs. The Mountaineers hold a 14-9 advantage in the series, but Marshall won the most recent game last fall in Huntington.
MU and App State met 21 times as members of the then I-AA Southern Conference between 1977 and 1996. In 13 games between 1985 and 1996, 11 times at least one of the two teams was ranked in the NCAA Division I-AA Top 25, and in eight of those games both teams were ranked.
