WVU Baseball began their final series of the regular season with a 2-0 win, blanking TCU in Morgantown behind six scoreless innings from Ian Korn for their seventh consecutive conference win.

Korn worked through traffic for the Mountaineers (36-12, 20-8 Big 12), allowing six hits but managing to keep the Horned Frogs off the board with six timely strikeouts. Carson Estridge took the baton from Korn and earned the save, retiring nine straight batters after a leadoff single in the seventh.

West Virginia remains half a game behind Kansas for the top spot in the Big 12; theyโ€™ll need to win one more game than the Jayhawks do this weekend in order to secure a share of the regular season conference title.

Sean Smith and Matt Graveline broke the ice in the second inning, doubling on consecutive pitches. Sacrifice plays from Armani Guzman and Brodie Kresser brought Graveline home and accounted for the rest of the scoring. Korn struck out the side in the fourth, then ran into trouble with a pair of one out singles in the sixth. Limiting hard contact โ€” and fighting back to finish the frame with a pair of strikeouts โ€” helped him end his day at 100 pitches.

WVU Baseball will continue their series with the Horned Frogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15. Maxx Yehl and Chansen Cole will start on May 15 and May 16, respectively, as the Mountaineers line up their pitching schedule for the Big 12 Tournament.
