WVU Coach Among Nominees for Top Assistant Award

WVU OL coach Matt Moore

One of West Virginia’s coaches has been nominated for an award that honors the best assistant coach in the country. WVU offensive line coach Matt Moore is among 59 coaches being considered for Frank Broyles Award. Moore is one of nine Big 12 coaches on the list.

Despite a rough showing against Oklahoma, the offensive line has been a driving force for the Mountaineers this season, most notable helping to power the run game. The rushing attack is currently averaging the third-most rushing yards per game (213.8) in the conference.

The unit has also allowed just nine sacks to this point, tied for the fewest total overall in the Big 12. It’s believed Zach Frazier and Doug Nester will become NFL draft picks after being coached by Moore at WVU.

Moore first arrived in Morgantown in 2019. He’s worked under Neal Brown since 2015, dating back to Brown’s time at Troy.
