West Virginia head coach Neal Brown and the WVU football program has sealed another commitment, this one from a local player.

Coal City, West Virginia native and Independence High School running back Judah Price announced his intentions to join the Mountaineers via his Twitter account early Thursday morning. He is committing as a PWO (preferred walk-on).

Price made visits to West Virginia on multiple occasions according to his social media, including one for wrestling on Oct. 15. He also created two posts showing his involvement with the football program.

Price had four Division II offers and another three from Division III schools before committing to West Virginia.

The 5-foot-8, 188-pounder was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Player of the Year for West Virginia after rushing for 2,580 yards and 49 touchdowns this past fall for Independence, who capped off an undefeated 13-0 season with a victory over Herbert Hoover in the Class AA state championship game.

Price rushed for 376 yards and four touchdowns in the win, including a 94-yard scamper that set the Super Six record for longest scoring play.

His 53 total scores and 39 two-point conversions set the West Virginia individual single-season scoring record with 396 points, shattering Albert Glenn’s previous record of 359.

Price’s performance also earned him the Kennedy Award, presented to West Virginia’s top high school football player, as well as an All-USA Today HSSA Offensive Team selection.
