Almost two months after news broke that Cortez Braham was no longer a member of the WVU football team, the wide receiver makes his intentions about his future known.

Braham officially announced his plans to enter the transfer portal by releasing a statement on Monday afternoon. He thanked the West Virginia coaches and the fans of Mountaineer Nation, but said he will be on the hunt for a new program to finish out his final year of eligibility. Braham will be a grad transfer at his next school.

Playing time is likely part of Braham’s decision. He was hoping to be more involved in the offense this season with a new group of receivers and Bilal Marshall hired as the new wide receivers coach, but that did not materialize and then news began to abruptly break hours before kickoff of the TCU game that he was no longer with the team.

After being vocal about feeling more confident in West Virginia’s 2023 group of receivers compared to last year throughout the off-season, Braham was only been able to record three receptions for 17 yards this season. He caught 14 balls for 147 yards in 2022.
