WVU Football’s Backyard Brawl Uniforms Featured on ESPN

West Virginia is adding another special touch for the 105th edition of the Backyard Brawl, as the Mountaineers’ uniforms for the contest were unveiled.

The special Nike ‘Country Roads’ uniforms were featured on ESPN’s Sportscenter during the Gear Up segment on Saturday morning.

In a 33-second video clip, a West Virginia player is shown sporting the uniform while standing on a road surrounded by a wooded area.

The uniform shows a map of Interstate 79, the road West Virginia will travel on to make its trek to Pittsburgh, as well as multiple other roads around the state, detailed in the striping of the pants, jersey sleeves, numbers and on the helmet.

The striping down the sides of the pants are wider gold lines, meant to represent the lines of a road fans will use to travel to the Mountaineer games throughout the season.

Capping off the uniform will be the iconic “WV” logo inside the shape of the West Virginia state on the side of the helmet.

The Backyard Brawl kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday on ESPN, with a special College Gameday pregame show before the game.
