WVU LB Devell Washington Enters Transfer Portal

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – On Tuesday, WVU linebacker Devell Washington announced that he will be entering his name into the transfer portal.

Washington made the announcement on his Twitter.

Washington was a redshirt freshman this season for West Virginia. The Saginaw, Michigan native appeared in two games last season as a true freshman, against Iowa State and Army.

Off the field, Washington made the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.

The transfer of Washington makes that the third West Virginia player to transfer in the last few weeks. The other two transfers come from DL Darel Middleton and S Kerry Martin, both within days of each other.

The saga with the whole Middleton and Martin situation a few weeks ago created discussion whether or not the coaching staff has the locker room still on their side, or not. Middleton announced on Twitter that he was transferring, and then mentioned that others would transfer.

This is the new world of college athletics. If players don’t receive playing time, they will find somewhere that they will get that.
