WVU Selected as No. 3 Seed for NCAA Tournament, Will Face Morehead State in First Round

West Virginia men’s basketball has been selected as a No. 3 seed in the Midwest region for the 2021 NCAA tournament and will play Morehead State in the first round, the selection committee announced Sunday.

West Virginia (18-9, 11-6 Big 12) is coming off a loss to Oklahoma State in the first round of the Big 12 tournament on Thursday. The Mountaineers have lost three out of their last four games.

WVU’s first-round opponent will be No. 14 seed Morehead State. The Eagles finished this season 23-7, 17-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. They won the OVC championship over top-seeded Belmont on Saturday.

Times and locations for the first-round games of the NCAA tournament will be announced at a later date. All tournament games will be played in Indiana and a majority of tournament games will be played in Indianapolis.
