On the heels of the national champion being crowned on Sunday, the WVU women’s basketball program officially finishes the 2025-26 season nationally ranked.

On Monday, Mark Kellogg’s Mountaineers earned placement in the two main national polls. West Virginia finishes ranked at No. 16 in the Coaches Poll and No. 18 by the Associated Press.

After winning the program’s second Big 12 Tournament title, WVU experienced hosting the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992. But despite playing at home and in front of record crowds inside the Hope Coliseum, West Virginia still endured a second round exit.

WVU fell to Kentucky 74-73 after dominating Miami (OH) 82-54 in their tournament opening game.

For a step in the right direction, West Virginia finished at No. 21 in the AP’s poll one year ago.
