WVU Women’s Basketball to Host Miami (OH) in NCAAT First Round
WVU women’s basketball reached its goal of hosting an NCAA Tournament Regional in Morgantown, as announced Saturday. The suspense of not knowing the visitors as passed, as the selection show confirmed Kentucky, Miami (OH) and JMU will be coming to Morgantown.
No. 4 WVU will play No. 13 Miami (OH) in the first round on Saturday and face the winner of No. 5 Kentucky and No. 12 JMU on Monday.
WVU women’s basketball team comes into the postseason after its best season under head coach Mark Kellogg with a 27-6 regular season record and 14-4 mark in the Big 12. The Mountaineers secured an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big 12 Championship for the first time since 2017.
The Mountaineers also secured the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season with senior guard Jordan Harrison. Guard JJ Quinerly earned the award the past two seasons under Kellogg.
