West Virginia’s 2022 recruiting class is beginning to heat up, with a couple of 3-star recruits committing in June, and the next major recruit could be on his way to Morgantown soon.

2022 4-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol will be announcing his college commitment at noon on Monday, June 21, he tweeted Wednesday night. According to 247Sports, WVU, Florida State and Arizona State are the top three landing spots for him.

Marchiol originally committed to Florida State earlier this year but he re-opened his recruiting process. He has offers from Arizona State, Michigan State, Arkansas, Charlotte, Colorado, Colorado State, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, TCU, USF, Utah, Washington State and FSU.

Marchiol (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) plays for Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. As a junior last season, he passed for 1,417 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing 70% of his passes, and ran for 535 yards and six touchdowns in eight games.

The dual-threat quarterback made his official visit to WVU on June 11 and visited Michigan State on June 4. His final visit before committing will come Friday at Arizona State.

If Marchiol does decide to commit to WVU, the Mountaineers will have the foundation of a strong 2022 recruiting class fully underway, joining tight end Corbin Page,  offensive lineman Sullivan Weidman, wide receiver Jarel Williams, offensive lineman Maurice Hamilton, safety Mumu Bin-Wahad, safety Tyrin Woodby and offensive lineman Charlie Katarincic.
