WVU Football WR commit Roscoe Hayes

It appears as if a Big Ten program is trying to poach a WVU football commit away from the Big 12, with Penn State head coach Matt Campbell offering Christopher “Roscoe” Hayes, a three-star receiver from Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hayes committed to WVU in March and also has offers from schools such as Cincinnati, Illinois, Kansas State, Kentucky, NC State, Pitt, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

“Take Me Home. Trip to visit Morgantown was fantastic. Thankful and blessed to be continuing my academic and football career with WVU football,” posted Hayes.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 181 pounds, Hayes is a product of Westlake High School in Atlanta. His commitment comes a week after he returned from taking a trip to West Virginia. He also plays basketball in high school.

WVU wide receivers coach Ryan Garrett recruited Hayes directly. Hayes became the Mountaineers’ second commit for their 2027 class.

In a message to WV Sports Now, Hayes said he likes everything about WVU so far and can already envision what it will be like to be a Mountaineer.

“Just a great fit everywhere. The coaches, building, school, energy, scheme. Morgantown felt like home,” explained Hayes about why he was comfortable locking in his commitment before taking his official visit.

Per 247Sports, Hayes ended last season with 684 yards and six touchdowns on 47 catches.
