MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Following his visit with the West Virginia basketball program, 2023 C Evan Ramsey talks his weekend at WVU with WV Sports Now.

“It was great being able to watch their scrimmage Friday night versus Akron, and I was very impressed with their facilities,” he said. “I enjoyed meeting the coaching staff because they talked about my play style and how it can fit in with the team.”

In his sophomore season at Abingdon High School, Ramsey averaged 14.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.4 blocks. Ramsey made the First All-Region 3D Team in the state of Virginia.

So far, Ramsey has an offer from Radford but has visited schools like Richmond, Virginia Tech and now West Virginia. The 7-foot-0, 240-pound center has not been ranked yet by 247Sports or Rivals.

With seven footers in today’s game, they are much more versatile than ever. Some can dribble, some can shoot, some can do it all. It’s not like what it used to be where they can only dunk, rebound and block. So, what type of play style does Ramsey have?

“I would say I’m a rim protector that can stretch the floor out to the 3-point line, and with good passing vision,” Ramsey said. “What I can bring to a team is strong paint defense and rebounding, as well as competitiveness and the ability to run the floor.”

As Ramsey looks to begin his junior season at Abingdon, he will look to continue to get attention from great D-I programs.
