2024 three-star forward Jinup Dobuol tells WV Sports Now that he will officially visit West Virginia in the near future. A date has not been set yet but WVU wasted no time to talk visits for Dobuol.

WVU assistant Jordan McCabe visited the 6-foot-8 recruit at PHHoenix Prep in Arizona over the weekend. McCabe watched players work out and eventually extended in-person offers to Dobuol and 2024 CG Carmelo Adkins. Dobuol says that he has a connection with McCabe. Growing up Dobuol watched McCabe’s highlights as he emerged as a social media sensation into his collegiate career at West Virginia and UNLV.

“The conversations were great he understands me, I understand him,” Dobuol tells WV Sports Now. “He’s a really cool guy in-person. Back then I used to watch his highlights and I was so excited when he offered me.”

“He used to go crazy. I remember watching him at UNLV and West Virginia. He was so nice, I was kind of a fan of him not gonna lie,” Dobuol added.

Dobuol adds West Virginia to a list with notable offers from Ole Miss, Portland, UCSB and Wichita State. The Saint Paul, Minn. native says that Arizona State, South Alabama, Utah and others are also in contact with him. For Dobuol, this offer from West Virginia was very special.

“I’m just very blessed for real because some people don’t get opportunities to go to a Power-5,” Dobuol said.

Dobuol played at Minnesota Prep Academy before PHHoenix Prep. The 2024 forward went into detail about his game and what he looks to improve on during his last season before college.

“My playstyle is versatile. I can guard and play multiple positions, I can shoot the ball well and finish strong,” he said. “My qualities are leadership, communication, self confidence. I want to improve on being a better leader to my teammates, guarding point guards and being consistent.”

WVSN will keep updating this story as visit dates officially are scheduled.
