WVU Football OL recruit Kage Payne

The 2023 WVU football team returning home for this week’s game also means an opportunity to recruit for 20224 and beyond.

Kage Payne, a three-star offensive lineman out of Ohio, announced on social media that he will be one of the notable prospects in attendance this Saturday when West Virginia welcomes Oklahoma State to Morgantown. Payne is a class of 2025 recruit and currently attends Kings High School in King Mills, Ohio.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, Payne earned his three-star distinction from 247 Sports. He’s also been picking up the pace recruiting wise lately. Payne visited Ohio State earlier this month, Pitt and Notre Dame in September and Virginia Tech back in August.

Even though he still has two more remaining high school seasons left, Payne has already received several offers from both FBS and FCS level schools. Programs like Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, FAU, JMU, Massachusetts, Memphis, Miami (OH), Ohio and Toledo have formally expressed an interest in Payne.

WVU has not yet made an offer to Payne, but it’s possible one could come from his upcoming visit.
