WVU Basketball completes their two-game road trip on Monday night vs. Kansas State. Let’s take a look at five things to know before the game.

First Meeting: K-State Controlled Glass

On Jan. 9, Kansas State defeated WVU 81-67 in Morgantown behind a 13 rebounding differential. KSU G Cam Carter led the way with 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

West Virginia led at the half but were out-scored 41-25 in the second half. After the 10-0 K-State run, West Virginia tried to get back into the game but it was too much to overcome.

Turnovers a Problem

West Virginia’s 23 turnovers vs. Iowa State was a season-high and cost them the game. Iowa State scored 29 points off of those turnovers and helped spark their offense. Kerr Kriisa (5), Jesse Edwards (5) and Josiah Harris (4) led the way with turnovers for WVU. The Mountaineers are averaging 16.8 turnovers in the last four games.

Turnovers have emerged as a problem for West Virginia as the team added Kriisa, RaeQuan Battle and Noah Farrakhan into the rotation mid-year. WVU was able to maintain their turnovers early into the season when they were forced to play slowly.

Takeaways: WVU Had Opportunity For Road Upset vs. Iowa State

Can WVU Finally Get That Road Win?

West Virginia is 0-11 away from the WVU Coliseum this season. The Mountaineers had a lead with nine minutes left vs. Iowa State on Saturday but went scoreless for the next six minutes.

WVU’s program has struggled on the road in the Big 12 over the past few seasons, going 2-23 since the 2021-22 slate.

Betting Lines

The spread for the WVU-KSU game is currently -9.5 Kansas State. The over/under is set at 143.5.
