The West Virginia Mountaineers will face off against the Army Black Knights in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31, the bowl announced Monday evening.

WVU was originally scheduled to play the Tennessee Volunteers, with both schools accepting official invitations Sunday night. It was reported Monday afternoon, however, that positive COVID-19 tests within the Tennessee program forced the Volunteers to withdraw from the Bowl.

The Black Knights are 9-2 this season, defeating Air Forced, 10-7, in their most recent game on Dec. 19. Army and WVU have played three times, in 1941, 1946 and 1961. Army holds a 2-1 advantage over the Mountaineers.

The two teams will kickoff against the Mountaineers at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 in Memphis Tennessee.
