Breaking Down West Virginia’s Preseason Depth Chart: Special Teams

2022 Preseason Depth Chart – Special Teams

PK – Casey Legg

Kickoff Specialist – Parker Grothaus

Casey Legg fitting name hasn’t disappointed since he made the transition from high school soccer player to one of the most accurate kickers in the country, a transition Mountaineers fans are familiar with (Pat McAfee made the same transition). Legg will now also be able to just focus on converting field goals and extra points with Parker Grothaus apart of the fold. The addition of Grothaus is all about improving WVU’s kickoff and field position issues.

Ollie Straw

Ollie Straw is a true freshman Aussie-style punter. This could go very well or very poorly. Not much room for an in-between situation here.

  1. Sam James

  2. Jaylen Anderson

  1. Sam James

  2. Davis Mallinger

Sam James has the speed for this role, but can he convert that speed into big plays is the question.

Graeson Malashevich

Steady hands is all you can ask for.
