BREAKING: Linebacker VanDarius Cowan is Ruled Out for the Season

Published

on

The injury bug continues to plague the Mountaineers defense as head coach Neal Brown announced today that redshirt sophomore linebacker VanDarius Cowan will have surgery on his knee and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Cowan, the former Alabama transfer made his Mountaineer debut on homecoming vs Texas and showed his presence early. In the first half, Cowan bull rushed through Texas running back Keaontay Ingram ans sacked quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Ingram was hurt on the play and would not return in the game.

Through two games, Cowan recorded six tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss. His absence will be tough for defensive coordinator Vic Koenning to fill, especially with the lack of depth already at the position.
