Class of 2020 corner “admires” WVU program, calls offer a blessing

Yesterday, the West Virginia coaching staff extended an offer to class of 2020 cornerback Jason Scott (6′, 170 lbs) of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Laurel, Maryland.

Scott was extremely happy when he learned of his offer from Coach Jahmile Addae.

“I was enthusiastic once they offered me. It seemed crazy, because I used to be a big West Virginia fan when Tavon Austin was there since we grew up in the same area. Knowing that a program I used to admire as a kid wants me to play football for them, it’s truly a blessing and unbelievable.”

He also went on to talk about his relationship with his lead recruiter, who sent him the offer.

“The recruiter for my area is Coach Addae, but it’s cool because he is also the coach for my position at West Virginia. We kind of just met, but I can tell from our talk that we’ll be able to relate a lot and have many common interests outside of football.”

Some recruits look for immediate or guaranteed playing time in the recruiting process, but not Scott. He looks for things far beyond that. “Most importantly, the major that I want, but from a football aspect, I want to play for a team that’s a family and a brotherhood. I highly dislike playing on teams with selfish players and only worry if they are being successful and not the whole team. I also want to have a players coach – I’ve always had a players coach and I’ve been able to relate to them and have great relationships with them. That’s something I want at the collegiate level.”

Scott also informed DubVNation that he has been invited to attend West Virginia’s next junior day on March 2nd, which he is discussing with his parents to see if he can make the trip.

Along with West Virginia, Scott also holds offers from Buffalo, Rutgers, Boston College, Air Force, Michigan State, East Carolina, Yale, Princeton and others.

There are no schools standing out to him at the moment.

“Every school is even right now, I still have to take all of my visits and do as much research as possible on each school.”
