West Virginia Offers Elite Hybrid Defensive Lineman/Linebacker

Published

on

Last night the Mountaineers stretched out to the Midwest to offer class of 2020 defensive end/linebacker Lanell Carr (6’3″ 230 lbs) of De Smet Jesuit High School in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Carr also holds offers from the likes of Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and many others. With the amount of offers he already has, more are likely on the way, so he does not have any leaders at the moment. “All of them are nice schools, but I am still building relationships with the coaches.”

When asked his thoughts on the West Virginia offer he responded, “I could not believe it, I am very thankful. Coach Lesley is my recruiter and he is a cool coach, I enjoy talking to him.” He also noted that West Virginia is “one of the top programs in college football. They’re a very successful program and help you get ready for the pros.”

Carr can be a legit edge rusher at the collegiate level. He has excellent closing speed and can disrupt the pocket with his pass rushing abilities. Offenses that attempt to go east/west don’t have much success when he’s on the field. With his size, he has the potential to be an early impact player wherever he ends up.

Carr will be majoring in business administration and is looking for a school that “feels like home and has a family environment.” He also will be taking a visit to Morgantown sometime in April.
