DB William Davis Confirms WVU Football Exit, Entering Portal

The latest Mountaineer to publicize his plans to enter the transfer portal confirmed his WVU football exit from multiple national reports on Thursday.

“The next chapter will be special,” posted defensive back William Davis in response to a report by 247 Sports.

Davis transferred to WVU ahead of the 2025 season after spending the first five seasons of his college career (including a redshirt year and the COVID year) as a cornerback at Virginia Union, a Division II HBCU.

He will exit West Virginia as a grad transfer. The highlight of his college career so far was earning First Team All-Conference honors at in 2024 after recording 66 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss and picking off four passes.
