QB Khalil Wilkins to Leave West Virginia, Enter Transfer Portal
The late-season emergence of Scotty Fox and WVU’s interest in transfer quarterbacks has led to Khalil Wilkins deciding to enter the transfer portal.
Wilkins announced his intentions to transfer with three years of eligibility left on Thursday afternoon.
“I will be entering my name in the Transfer Portal with three years of eligibility. My film from this past year is a slide overโฆ AGTG,” posted Wilkins on social media.

Wilkins, who initially joined the Mountaineers as a 2024 recruit of Neal Brown’s staff, gained some opportunities to play during the 2025 season. He even started a game at BYU.
Wilkins finished his debut start 7-for-15 through the air for just 81 yards and two interceptions. With most of the plays called as designed runs, Wilkins also added 89 yards on the ground off 23 rushing attempts and a score.
โPlay hard. He was a freshman in that kind of environment,โ said WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez about Wilkins’ play after the game.

โI thought he was into the game. I think he would like to have a lot of plays back, but I also think he competed his tail off,โ he added.
Overall throughout the 2025 season, Wilkins threw for 185 yards, a touchdown and the two picks.ย He did not appear in a game in 2024.
Wilkins was a three-star recruit out of Upper Marlboro, Md. He was ranked as the No. 22 quarterback in his class by ESPN.
