Former WVU forward Taj Thweatt announced on Friday afternoon that he will be committing to Temple. Thweatt entered the transfer portal twice over the past five months, once on Jan. 3 and May 13.

Thweatt spent two seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Coastal Carolina. Thweatt transferred for the second time due to personal reasons.

“Proud to announce I’ve committed to Temple University. Let’s go Owl nation! All in,” Thweatt wrote on Twitter.

Thweatt will begin his stint with the Owls in the 2022-23 season and will have three years of eligibility, with an extra year opportunity with the free COVID-19 extension. Thweatt played 12 games through two seasons at West Virginia, averaging 0.6 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists.

The Wildwood, NJ, native was recruited to WVU as a 3-star prospect. Thweatt was in the 2020 recruiting class with Isaiah Cottrell and Seny N’Diaye, who both have also departed from the program.
