Former WVU CB Jordan Scruggs Pursuing Another Season of Eligibility

In a new development that could lead to a possible roster shake up for WVU football ahead of the season, a former Mountaineer is seeking another year of eligibility.

Jordan Scruggs, who spent the 2025 season in West Virginia, has a court hearing scheduled for next week in hopes of being granted an opportunity to play college football in 2026. The court will hear Scruggs’ motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction.

Scruggs, listed at 5-foot-11 and 166 pounds, pursued the NFL Draft, but was never selected or signed by a team. He transferred to WVU ahead of the 2025 season after playing for South Alabama in 2024.

In his lone season at WVU, Scruggs recorded 33 total tackles, with 22 credited as solo, a pair of pass deflections, a forced fumble and an interception, which he turned into a pick-6 during WVU’s road upset over then ranked Houston, while playing in all 12 games at cornerback and contributing on special teams. He had 69 combined tackles, two pass deflections and a pick in 2024.

His college career started in 2021 as a redshirt at Washburn. He then played for Central Missouri as a freshman in 2022 and became a star at Hutchinson Community College in 2023.
