In addition to committing to WVU on Monday, top transfer quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. added to the hype by expressing his excitement.

“Mountaineer Nation!! I can’t wait to get to Morgantown and get to work. Promise to lay it on the line for this program. Let’s build something special!!,” posted Hawkins on social media hours after the news of his acquisition broke.

Hawkins’ decision to move from the SEC to West Virginia in the Big 12 will now provide Rich Rodriguez with the talented dual-threat quarterback to compete with incumbent Scotty Fox to lead the Mountaineers in 2026 and beyond.

Hawkins spent Saturday on an official visit with the West Virginia staff. Sources told WV Sports Now that he was WVU’s top transfer target.

Huge pickup. Fox is solid, but a little competition can raise the game of both quarterbacks.
    Stay positive, Scotty!
