Jake Long Announces Transfer from WVU, Second Safety to Enter Portal This Week
West Virginia safety Jake Long has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Twitter Tuesday morning.
I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal and weigh my options on where I will finish the last year of my football career. Thank you to everyone who helped me at wvu and throughout my time in college. Thank you to the fans for all the love you guys have showed me.

Long, a redshirt-senior, had 12 career tackles in five seasons with the Mountaineers. Long came to Morgantown from Hamilton Township High School in Columbus, Ohio and redshirted in 2016. After playing in 11 games on special teams in 2017, Long missed the entire 2018 season due to a wrist injury.
Long played in 13 games between 2019 and 2020, recording 11 total tackles. With the NCAA’s blanket eligibility waiver for 2020, Long will have one year of college eligibility remaining.
Long is the second safety to transfer away from WVU this week joining former walk-on Jayvon Thrift, who announced his transfer Monday night.
