WVU Safety Jayvon Thrift Enters the Transfer Portal

Published

on

West Virginia safety Jayvon Thrift has entered the transfer portal with the intent to transfer, he announced on Twitter Monday night.

Thrift, a redshirt freshman from Norwin High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, originally enrolled at WVU in 2019 and redshirted as a freshman. While he didn’t play in a game in 2020, he will still have four years of eligibility remaining wherever he chooses to transfer.

After decommitting from Youngstown State in 2019, with offers from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, among others, Thrift was a preferred walk-on at WVU.

With starting safety Tykee Smith and cornerback Dreshun Miller transferring, WVU’s defensive backfield will undergo changes in 2021.
