Jeremiah Johnson began his college career at Butte Community College in Northern California, playing two seasons there before transferring to West Virginia this offseason. He’s shorter than the typical edge rusher at 6-foot-2, but should pack plenty of power into his 247 pound frame.

The Mountaineers only have four players listed at EDGE on their 2026 roster, and that lack of depth should help Johnson get on the field at some point. A recent NCAA rule change awarded extra eligibility to players who began their careers at the lower levels of the sport like JUCO or Division II: although Johnson is listed as a redshirt junior, he could have more than two seasons of eligibility remaining as he looks to make the jump.

Last Year: Johnson earned 2025 NorCal Conference Defensive MVP honors for his performance at Butte Community College, playing outside linebacker.

Stats: 34 tackles (23 solo), 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and three pass breakups in 2025.

Post-Camp Outlook: Johnson is one of four players listed at EDGE on the Mountaineers roster. He’ll need to prove himself as he acclimates to Division I football, but less competition could help him get on the field.
