West Virginia transfer Jose Perez has heard from a handful of schools since entering the transfer portal on Wednesday morning.

Perez tells WV Sports Now that he has heard from Gonzaga, Michigan and Georgia Tech and tells Joe Tipton of On3 that Oregon and Oklahoma have contacted him as well. Perez also mentions to WVSN that he is open to returning to West Virginia.

Perez (6-foot-5) transferred to West Virginia in late October after Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello was let go two weeks before the season starting. Perez committed to WVU within days of entering the portal in hopes to play this past season. The Bronx, NY native sat out the entirety of the 2022-23 season after being denied a waiver by the NCAA.

Perez last played in the 2021-22 season with Manhattan, averaging 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Perez shot 40 percent from the field. Perez was named the Preseason MAAC Player of the Year. Before Manhattan, Perez previously played at Gardner Webb and Marquette.

Perez is on-pace to become a graduate transfer this summer, making him immediately eligible for next season. Perez has one year of eligibility remaining.
