West Virginia point guard Miles “Deuce” McBride was named the Big 12 Player of the Week Monday after dropping  career-high 31 points in WVU’s victory over then-No. 23 Kansas on Saturday.

It is the sophomore’s first time being named the Big 12 Player of the Week and his third weekly honor overall after twice being named the Newcomer of the Week last season.

McBride finished Saturday’s game with 31 points, seven rebounds, 7 assists and three steals. He shot 9 of 16 from the floor and 4 of 5 from 3-point range. Even more impressive, he did so coming off of his worst two-game stretch of the season, scoring just 18 combined points in WVU’s previous two games against Florida and Iowa State.

McBride is leading the Mountaineers in scoring (15.9 points per game), assists (4.6) and steals (1.9) this season. He also leads the entire Big 12 conference in assists/turnover ratio (2.6).
