Miles Khatri’s Special Role in the Secondary | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
Most players only make it on the field sparingly during their true freshmen season, but finding a specialized role is one way to push the issue and carve out playing time. That’s what nickel safety Miles Khatri could do with the Mountaineers in 2026: he’s one of just five players listed at the position on West Virginia’s roster, and one of three true freshmen.
Khatri played linebacker in high school, but at six feet tall and 208 pounds, the three-star recruit is small enough and nimble enough to flip to the secondary. Nickel defense refers to a sub-package with five defensive backs on the field, typically deployed during passing downs, but Khatri’s experience as a linebacker could help the Mountaineers preserve run-stopping flexibility.
17 • Miles Khatri, freshman nickel safety
Last Year: N/A
Stats: N/A
Post-Camp Outlook: As one of just five nickel safeties on the WVU Football roster, Khatri could press for playing time with a strong performance in summer and fall camps.
Projected Role: Expect senior Geimere Latimer II or Oklahoma transfer Maliek Hawkins to earn most of the snaps at the position, but don’t rule out a reserve role for Khatri in 2026.
Accolades, Highlights: A three-star recruit in high school, Khatri also earned a first-team all-state nod at linebacker in Alabama’s competitive class 6A.
