Miles McBride Helps Knicks to Surprising OT Playoff Win in Boston

An efficient shooting night by Miles McBride helped the New York Knicks win game one of their second-round series against the Boston Celtics Monday night.
Deuce McBride, a standout player at WVU from 2019-21, scored 11 points off the bench in New York’s 108-105 overtime win over Boston. McBride was 4-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-6 on three-pointers.

The 11-point outing was McBride’s highest-scoring playoff performance of the season, although not of his career. McBride scored 21 points against the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2024 playoffs. McBride, a former second-round pick of the Knicks, averaged a career-high 9.5 points this year, his fourth season in the NBA.
The defending champion Celtics are coached by another former Mountaineer in 2006-11 WVU standout Joe Mazulla. Former WVU teammate Da’Sean Butler is on Mazulla’s staff with Boston.
Game two of the best-of-seven series between the Knicks and Celtics is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m.
