WVU Alum Jim Fagan’s Iconic Voice to Return for NBA on NBC

With the NBA set to return to NBC in the fall, WVU will be represented throughout the broadcasts. The Mountaineer representation will also extend far beyond what happens on the court from Joe Mazzulla, Miles McBride and Jevon Carter.
Jim Fagan, a familiar national voice with a deep WVU connection, will be heard by fans everywhere again, and that’s despite his death in 2017. The voice of Fagan, known by most as the voice of the NBA on NBC throughout the 1990s, and known by West Virginians as a distinguished WVU alum and former Mountaineer football player, will be used by NBC again thanks to artificial intelligence.
Thanks to the agreement of Fagan’s surviving family, promos for NBC’s NBA coverage will include a digital recreation of the famous voice over assists’ voice.

“His voice perfectly captured the magnitude of the heavyweight matchups and stars that he was introducing.”
