Neal Brown’s Message to Students: Show up, Be Early, Be Loud

This afternoon Mountaineer head coach Neal Brown held his first game week press conference as the team gets prepared to take on James Madison on Saturday for the season opener. According to Matt Wells, West Virginia’s senior associate athletic director, the game has been sold out and we can expect a capacity crowd for the first game of the Neal Brown era.

Coach Brown has done an amazing job of connecting with the not only the fan base, but the student body. He spoke to the students at Monday Night Lights and encouraged them to come out and support the team.

Today, he echoed that statement once again. “I just want to take a second to encourage our students, encourage our student body. I firmly believe that the students set the tone for entire stadium. So I encourage them to show up, show up early, be loud. Another note to is it’s the 20th year of the Mountaineer Maniacs and they do a great job of really creating an atmosphere at our stadium, so I appreciate them,” Brown said.

Brown also stated that he is excited for the atmosphere and isn’t really going to be overly worried about anything heading into the game.  “Dax (Brown’s son) has no idea that we are getting ready to play a game, so that’s positive,” he said jokingly. “The kids are good. We started school school last week and they’re excited. Brooke is trying to figure out normal mom stuff, trying to figure where to park and how to get the kids here. They’re excited, first gameday here so, they’re looking forward to it.”

Gameday is just four days away and coach Brown is hoping for an electric atmosphere in Morgantown this Saturday to kickoff the 2019 season. So as coach said “Show up, show up early, be loud.”
