Randy Mazey Logs 500th Career Win as Collegiate Head Coach

West Virginia baseball head coach Randy Mazey logged a major career milestone on Saturday, notching his 500th win as a collegiate coach with the Mountaineers’ 7-2 win over the Xavier Musketeers.
The vast majority of those wins have come with West Virginia. 66 wins came with Charleston Southern across three seasons in the mid 1990s; 120 with East Carolina in the early 2000s, and the remaining 314 with West Virginia over the past 11 seasons.
It’s been a season full of milestones for the Mountaineers’ head man, who notched his 300th win as West Virginia’s head coach with a victory over the Arizona Wildcats back in February.

His teams have made the NCAA Tournament in six of his 15 full seasons, and the Mountaineers are aiming for another postseason bid this season after missing out in 2022.
In typical fashion, Mazey downplayed the achievement when asked about it, giving the players he’s coached the credit for the victories.
Mazey said he’s already put the achievement behind him and is focused on the next game.
“All I care about at this point is [win number] 501, to be honest with you,” Mazey said to put the accomplishment in perspective.
