The WVU football program will experiences more roster movement. Many players were cut after the Spring Showcase. Some decided to leave on their own. And now a player who recently signed with West Virginia in January has been granted his release.

Offensive tackle William Reed will depart WVU after being granted his release, per a report from 247 Sports.

Reed (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) picked West Virginia over offers from Air Force, Arizona State, Army, Colorado, Duke, Hawaiโ€™i, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt, San Diego State, Tennessee, UNLV, Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington State just to name some of the schools who were interested.

โ€œI know it sounds cliche, but it really felt like home. I want to be in a program where I can contribute immediately, and the coaches really think I can do that at WVU,โ€ Reed told WV Sports Now about why he initially signed with West Virginia as a transfer player out of the winter portal.ย

โ€œMy ultimate goal is to go to the NFL, and Coach (Jack) Bicknell and I really connected, and his history with the NFL was attractive. But first I need to earn the opportunity to play and do everything I can to help get WVU to the next level. Coach (Rich) Rodriguez is an awesome coach, and I think he is going to get us where we need to be,โ€ added Reed.
