Report: Karl Joseph Suffers Season Ending Injury

The injury Karl Joseph suffered in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason victory over the Seattle Seahawks has ended his season, according to Dale Lolley of DK Pittsburgh Sports.

The injuries for Karl Joseph (ankle) and Anthony Miller (shoulder) are season-ending. Tough break for Miller, who was on pace to make the 53-man roster.

Joseph was injured while playing on special teams, before the Steelers even took a defensive snap. Joseph was carted off the field and had an air cast on his right lower leg and ankle. He was on crutches in the Steelers locker room after the game.

Joseph has been working as the second-team safety behind Terrell Edmunds throughout training camp. Second-year safety Donovan Stiner is the only safety behind Joseph on the team’s depth chart.

A former first-round draft pick of the Oakland Raiders out of West Virginia, the Steelers signed Joseph last year after he was cut by the Raiders at the end of training camp. He spent the 2021 season on Pittsburgh’s practice squad and played in two games.

The Steelers had eight players that were not dressed for the preseason opener with injuries.
