This would be the 53rd meeting between the two teams, dating all the way back to 1922. It would be the first meeting between the two old Big East rivals since Georgetown defeated WVU in the first round of the NIT in 2014.
In last season’s Big East/Big 12 Battle, the Mountaineers suffered their first loss of the season against St. John’s in Madison Square Garden. Georgetown defeated Oklahoma State 81-74 in its Big East/Big 12 Battle game last season. Georgetown finished last season with a 15-17 record, 5-13 in the Big East.
