During West Virginia’s win over Cincinnati, big man Jesse Edwards reached 1,000 career points. Following the game, Edwards was asked for his thoughts on reaching the milestone, to where he played it humble but his teammates Kerr Kriisa and RaeQuan Battle weren’t afraid to hype up the 6-foot-11 center up.

“1,000 points? Why didn’t we start with that? We’re asking questions and Jesse got 1,000 points,” Kriisa joked.

“That’s big time. I’ll never get that,” Kriisa added.

Edwards ended the game with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks on 11-of-17 shooting in 29 minutes. Wednesday marked the first time Edwards returned to the starting lineup since fracturing his right wrist vs. UMass on Dec. 16.

“Had a bunch of nice games but this is really right up there because it means a lot to us,” Edwards said.

Edwards scored 836 points at Syracuse from 2019-23 and has scored 177 points during his first and only season at West Virginia through 11 games.

Down below is the basket where Edwards reached that milestone.
