West Virginia Defensive Lineman Darel Middleton No Longer With the Team

Published

on

West Virginia redshirt junior defensive lineman Darel Middleton is no longer with the team, WVSN’s Ethan Bock reported from WVU head coach Neal Brown’s press conference on Tuesday.

Middleton, a transfer from Tennessee in July, suited up for three games this season and was not active for either the Texas Tech or Baylor games the last two weeks. The reason for Middleton’s departure has not yet been released.

In three games with the Mountaineers, Middleton recorded two tackles and a tackle for loss — all coming against Long Island University on Sept. 11.

WVU’s defensive line depth remains basically unchanged, with Middleton having minimal impact upon the roster since arriving in July. With senior Dante Stills and sophomore Akheem Mesidor leading the way and strong depth across the line, the defensive line has been a solid unit this season.
