What a day it has been for West Virginia’s coaching staff. James Madison transfer defensive back Wesley McCormick announced on Tuesday afternoon that he is committing to WVU.

“Let’s get to work,” McCormick wrote on his Twitter.

McCormick (6-foot, 199 pounds) spent five years at James Madison, appearing in 49 games for the Dukes. The Maryland native only played one game during the 2021 season, but recorded 20 tackles and three interceptions during a shortened 2020 year.

2022 JUCO DB Jaylon Shelton also committed to West Virginia just minutes before McCormick did. Shelton played his freshman season at Tyler JC, in Texas. Shelton played nine games, recording 33 total tackles and two interceptions. WVU head coach Neal Brown showed his excitement on social media.

McCormick will have one year of eligibility remaining.
