Jaylon Shelton, a 2022 JUCO defensive back, committed to West Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. Shelton announced his commitment on his Twitter account.

Shelton (6-foot-3, 188 pounds) just received an offer from WVU on May 17 and recently visited West Virginia. The Texas native also visited TCU this past week as well, receiving offers from Indiana and Stephen F. Austin.

Shelton played his freshman season at Tyler JC, in Texas. Shelton played nine games, recording 33 total tackles and two interceptions.

Over the last few days, WVU’s coaching staff has been adding needed depth to their secondary. Recently, West Virginia received a commitment from Colorado State CB Rashad Ajayi. Ajayi (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) played four seasons at Colorado State, appearing in 34 games for the Rams. The Atlanta native recorded 76 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and one interception during his time in Fort Collins.

Shelton comes to Morgantown with three years of eligibility.
