West Virginia baseball fell multiple spots in two national polls this week after splitting its season-opening series against Georgia State.

The Mountaineers (2-2) were ranked No. 23 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25 ranking and No. 27 in the NCBWA Top 30 poll. That is down from 14 and 21, respectively, in each outlets’ preseason rankings.

West Virginia won 5-3 on opening day against the GSU Panthers last Friday before dropping both games of a doubleheader on Saturday. WVU salvaged the series finale on Sunday, 3-2.

The Mountaineers are scheduled to participate in the CCU Baseball Tournament in South Carolina this weekend. WVU will play Kennesaw State (3-1) Friday, Coastal Carolina (2-2) Saturday and Bryant (2-1) on Sunday.
