WVU F Tucker DeVries Gives Update on Shoulder Recovery
WVU senior wing Tucker DeVries gave a positive update on his shoulder recovery when speaking with the media on Thursday. DeVries has been back on the floor practicing with his teammates for the past couple of months following surgery at the conclusion of last season.
After coming back from the Italy foreign trip and beginning the fall semester, DeVries has taken his activity level up a notch.
“Shoulder is doing good. Strength, mobility, everything is good,” DeVries said. “Still have to limit the reps outside of practice. Just trying to work my way endurance-wise. Don’t want to overdo it right before the season.”
“I’d say it’s pretty close to 100%, if not 100%. I feel pretty good it’s healthy,” DeVries continued.
DeVries follows his dad and head coach, Darian, to West Virginia from Drake. Together, the two won 80 games and reached the NCAA Tournament twice in three years. Tucker is the reigning back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and looks to transition his game to Big 12 play during his final year of eligibility.
Tucker had surgery on his shoulder after Drake fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in March. At the time, Tucker was not too worried about his recovery process. Now itโs about getting back into basketball shape.
โShoulder has been good. Iโve had no real problems with it. I think most of it now is just getting back into game shape and even practice shape,โย Tucker said in July. โItโs kind of a mental thing of just trying to trust it again. Battled it for most of the season so I was protecting it a lot. Just trying to get back to the point where I can not even think about what Iโm doing with it.โ
DeVries has been regarded as one of the top transfers from the portal this offseason and is receiving preseason hype as a top senior and wing player by national analyst Andy Katz.
