WVU Football Learns Commitment Decision of NFL Legacy After Long Pursuit
Several months after being re-offered by the new WVU football staff, an NFL legacy has made his commitment decision. Lawrence “Jay” Timmons, son of the former NFL Pro Bowl linebacker, committed to Indiana on Monday night.
Timmons (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) ended up going with the Hoosiers over offers from Power Four schools like Iowa, Iowa State, Maryland, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia and Wisconsin among others.
West Virginia, who first offered Timmons in October, officially reignited their interest in Timmons with a new offer in February.

A product of Western Pennsylvania powerhouse Pine Richland, Timmons is considered a college cornerback, but has experience on both sides of the ball, also playing wide receiver in high school. Timmons attended camps at WVU even before being initially offered by Neal Brown’s staff.
Former WVU coach Blaine Stewart was leading Timmons’ recruitment prior to leaving the Mountaineers to return to the NFL for a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
