According to the report, WVU will host UT Martin on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 and pay a $500,000 grantee for the game. It will be the first meeting between the programs.
That game also completes WVU’s non-conference schedule for the 2026 season, where the Mountaineers will also host Alabama in a home-and-home series and travel to play East Carolina. This also means that WVU will not be able to continue the Backyard Brawl series against Pitt that is scheduled to run from 2022-25.
The Mountaineers will host VMI on Sept. 11, 2027. It will be the 12th meeting all-time between the two programs, with WVU holding a perfect 11-0 record. The first match was in 1952 with the most recent in 1972.
