WVU football makes one of the toughest road trips in the Big 12 this week, but oddsmakers aren’t projecting the Mountaineers to be massive underdogs at Texas Tech on Saturday.
Both FanDuel and DraftKings have the Red Raiders as a +3.5 to open the week. West Virginia has lost two straight times at Texas Tech, but the Red Raiders haven’t won in Lubbock, TX since defeating Cincinnati on Sept. 28. The Mountaineers are perfect in conference road games this season.
The last time WVU won in Lubbock was in 2018. Texas Tech won the next four games in the series before the Mountaineers finally snapped the streak with a 20-13 victory last season in Morgantown.
Texas Tech won a shootout over Oklahoma State, 56-48, to pick up its seventh victory. The Red Raiders have lost three of their last five games after starting the season 5-1.
As announced at the conclusion of the Big 12’s Week 13 games, the West Virginia and Texas Tech game will kick off at noon ET and air nationally on FS1.
After a 31-21 win over UCF to cap off an overall rough home season, the WVU football program locked up a postseason opportunity by becoming bowl eligible.
West Virginia, now 6-5 (5-3, Big 12), will close the year by appearing in the 41st bowl game in school history.
For a related story, WVU football received a really interesting bowl projection at the start of the week.
