A big time defensive line transfer out of the SEC is headed to Morgantown to join the WVU football program. LSU transfer Kimo Makane’ole committed to West Virginia on Friday. This comes two days after he wrapped up an official visit.

Makane’ole, who officially entered the transfer portal on Jan. 3, is looking for a bigger role than what he was offered at LSU. He made just one tackle in 10 games as a backup during the 2024 season.

Makane’ole, a Florida native and a 6-foot-4, 297-pound redshirt junior, started his career as an offensive lineman before switching to the defensive side of the ball. He appeared in nine games over two seasons before making the change last spring.

He has one more year left of eligibility after starting his college career with a redshirt year in 2021. He was rated as a top 100 recruit nationally out of high school.
